Larry A. Shuman, 76, of Carmel, IN and Palm Beach, FL, passed away in his home on Friday the 19th day of April, surrounded by his loved ones. Larry was born January 10th, 1973, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Geneva Anderson and Charles W. Shuman.
Pursuing his love of baseball, Larry played in the first Little League World Series in 1949. Continuing his love of sports, he became a recipient of the CYO Monsignor Busald Award. He graduated from Indiana University School of Business in 1958 and was a member of Pi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He went on to serve as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, before becoming a partner of Phillip R. Duke and Associates. As a proud and committed member, he served as a past president of Hillcrest Country Club, as well as the Sheriff’s Motor Cycle Drill Team. He was also a recipient of the Sagamores of the Wabash.
He will be remembered as a generous, witty, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves cherished memories to his wife of 54 years, Gloria G. Shuman, and his children Susan Hughes (Tom), Jeff Shuman, and Marcie Logan (Bill), along with his six grandchildren, Tom, Brad, and Matt Hughes, Teddy, Nick, and Maddie Logan.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Timothy Story and staff, as well as Dr. Michael Krauss and staff for excellent and dedicated care. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22nd from 4pm to 7pm at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carmel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to be made in loving spirit to The National Kidney Foundation (911 E. 86th St. #100, Indpls, IN 46240) Celebration of Life TBA.
